In 2026, the electric grid enterprise of the Issyk-Kul region plans to upgrade 75.5 km of old aluminum wires with a voltage of 10/0.4 kV, replacing them with modern self-supporting insulated wires (SIP).
The reconstruction work will cover the following settlements and districts:
* Karakol — 8.6 km
* Cholpon-Ata — 19.7 km
* Balykchy — 5.6 km
* Ton District — 20 km
* Ak-Suu District — 6 km
* Jeti-Oguz District — 5.5 km
* Tyup District — 7.7 km.
As part of this project, 1100 old wooden poles will also be replaced with concrete ones. The start of work is scheduled for March 2026, with completion expected in November of the same year.
Additionally, in 2026, another 27.1 km of power lines will be constructed using SIP wires, and 588 new concrete poles will be installed. Currently, 11 km of SIP lines have already been laid, and 167 poles have been installed.
It is worth noting that in 2025, the construction of 90 km of SIP lines was completed in the Issyk-Kul region, and 1300 wooden poles were replaced with new concrete ones. Most of the old poles were installed in the 1960s and 1970s, and their service life has been exceeded by more than twice, making them unsafe.
The advantages of self-supporting insulated wires include high resistance to adverse weather conditions such as snow, rain, and strong winds, as well as minimizing emergency outages related to wires coming into contact with trees.
