On March 16, 2026, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Edil Baisalov, delivered a high-level speech in honor of the International Day Against Islamophobia, as reported by the press service of the Cabinet.

In his speech, he emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is a secular, multinational, and multi-religious society where a rich Islamic heritage harmoniously coexists with the principles of pluralism and freedom of belief.

According to Baisalov, since gaining independence, there has been a revival of religious life in the country, and the government is actively working to ensure that this process contributes to strengthening social harmony.

He also noted that under the leadership of President Sadyr Japarov, the government consistently supports the policy of interfaith dialogue, tolerance, and respect for cultural and religious diversity.

“The fight against Islamophobia is inextricably linked to countering all forms of religious hatred. We cannot allow discrimination against Muslims, just as it is unacceptable to treat Christians, Jews, and followers of other faiths with bias. Our task is not only to demonstrate tolerance but also to truly appreciate the richness of our diversity,” added the Deputy Prime Minister.

Edil Baisalov also touched upon the situation in the Middle East, pointing out President Sadyr Japarov's deep concern regarding the rising tensions in the region, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Kyrgyz Republic calls on all parties to exercise restraint, cease hostilities, and restore constructive dialogue in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
