Tashiev: Stop Holding Clan Councils
The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev, urged the citizens of Kyrgyzstan to abandon the practice of division by clans [uru] and the holding of kurultai. In his opinion, such behavior is incorrect, and he insisted on its cessation. “We must remember our ancestors and relatives, but these issues should not be elevated to the level of state policy. Kurultai should not be held — this is unacceptable.
