The Ministry of Natural Resources and the UN Discussed Air Quality Management Mechanisms in the Kyrgyz Republic

A round table was held in Kyrgyzstan dedicated to air quality issues in the atmosphere. The information was provided by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision.

The agency reported that the event was led by Asel Raimkulova, Deputy Minister, in cooperation with the regional office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia. The round table was organized with the technical support of the UN Environment Program (UNEP) and was titled "Analysis of Legal Regulation and Mechanisms for Air Quality Management in Kyrgyzstan."

During the discussion, participants were presented with an analytical overview of the legislative and institutional framework concerning the protection of atmospheric air, as well as mechanisms for implementing citizens' rights to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment. "The overview is based on an analysis of current legislation, strategies, Kyrgyzstan's international obligations, and recommendations from organizations such as WHO, UNEP, and others," the press service informs.

The main goal of the round table was to discuss the results of this overview and develop priority recommendations for improving legislation and air quality management mechanisms.
