Experts from the Bishkek Health Strengthening Center are once again drawing attention to the dangers of energy drinks for young people.
These drinks remain one of the most common harmful habits among teenagers. In this regard, medical professionals strongly warn that frequent consumption can lead to serious health problems.
“The contents of these drinks, rich in sugar and caffeine, negatively affect the cardiovascular and nervous systems, as well as the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. Possible consequences include increased blood pressure, arrhythmia, insomnia, anxiety, irritability, heartburn, exacerbation of gastritis, destruction of tooth enamel, dehydration, and exhaustion of the nervous system. It is especially dangerous to combine energy drinks with alcohol, as well as to give them to children, teenagers, and people with chronic diseases,” warn doctors.
The main risks associated with energy drinks:
- it is not recommended to drink energy drinks before physical exertion, as this increases the load on the heart,
• high doses of caffeine can lead to addiction and worsen sleep quality, which is especially critical during study periods,
• to combat fatigue, it is better to use safe methods: adequate rest, balanced nutrition, sufficient fluid intake, and moderate physical activity.
Doctors strongly recommend that young people completely exclude energy drinks from their diet.
