As Usenov noted, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, regular lectures and informational campaigns are organized in educational institutions — schools, colleges, and universities. At these events, students and schoolchildren are informed about the dangers of drugs, shown video materials, and theatrical performances dedicated to the consequences of addiction.
Educational Activities
From March to May 2025, forums and meetings were held in various regions of the country with the participation of young deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, Olympic medalists, actors, doctors, and narcologists.
At these meetings, the youth were clearly explained how drugs can destroy their health and future, and social videos and theatrical performances related to the issue of drug addiction were demonstrated.
This year, informational videos calling for health preservation and drug refusal were broadcast on LED screens in Bishkek, Talas, Karakol, as well as in the Ak-Suu and Issyk-Kul districts and on more than 200 buses in the capital.
Family Initiatives and Work with Schoolchildren
Special attention is given to interaction with the parents of students in grades 8–11.
In collaboration with the Republican Center for Psychiatry and Narcology, discussions and meetings are held where specialists share important information:
- how to notice changes in adolescent behavior;
- what early signs may indicate the use of psychoactive substances;
- what to do if drug addiction is suspected.
These meetings also discuss the legal aspects of responsibility for the illegal circulation of drugs and psychoactive substances.
Sports and Youth Activities
As part of the national campaign "We are for a Healthy Kyrgyzstan," sports events, drawing contests, and quizzes aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and preventing addictions are held throughout the country.
In addition, the canine service of the Drug Control Service regularly conducts preventive checks in places of mass youth recreation, such as clubs, cinemas, parks, and concerts, using service dogs to detect drugs.
Local Efforts and Cooperation
Since the beginning of the year, more than 40 coordination meetings have been held with the participation of local self-government bodies, where the drug situation in the regions was analyzed and recommendations for improving preventive work were developed.
Every year, an action plan is developed in connection with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (June 26).
In 2025, a large-scale preventive event — an immersive exhibition "Was, Is, and Consequences" — was held in Bishkek, organized by the Drug Control Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in collaboration with the Republican Center for Psychiatry and Narcology and the Health Promotion Center of the Ministry of Health.
Kanybek Usenov emphasized that the success of anti-drug policy largely depends on the participation of the entire society: "To reduce the demand for drugs, it is essential that everyone — parents, teachers, doctors, and public organizations — participates. The mass media plays a key role in this process. Through information, education, and personal example, we can create a society free from the threat of drugs."
