The National Forum "Data and Security in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" on January 28 became a platform for discussing pressing issues in the field of medical data exchange. Professor of Public Law and member of the Association of Professors of Public Law in Germany, Lothar Detterman, stated that pressure from regulators forces American companies to prefer to "close" their medical data rather than share it.

According to Detterman, many organizations are implementing complex security systems to protect information, which leads to a reluctance to cooperate and share data with other institutions. This, he noted, is related to the fear of violating laws.

"The lack of dissemination of medical information means that it cannot be fully utilized for treatment, the search for new methods, scientific research, or public health protection," he emphasized.

In the U.S., according to the expert, there are about 50-60 legislative acts that must be complied with to conduct safe business. Companies fear lawsuits and potential government investigations if they violate these laws.

Moreover, Detterman noted that some organizations prefer to keep personal medical data to themselves, as they hold high value and do not want to share them with competitors.
