There are 54 hemodialysis centers operating in Kyrgyzstan

In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of people suffering from kidney failure in Kyrgyzstan. This was reported at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh by the Minister of Health, Damir Osmonov.

According to him, the number of such patients has risen from 2,860 in 2010 to the current 4,478.

The statistics from the World Health Organization indicate that, on average, there are 830 patients with kidney failure per 1 million population. In Kazakhstan, this figure is 800, in Russia — 900, while in Kyrgyzstan it is 630 per 1 million people.

The minister noted that factors contributing to the development of the disease include diabetes, pyelonephritis, and high blood pressure.

Currently, there are 54 hemodialysis centers operating in the country, of which 2 are state-owned, 4 operate under public-private partnerships, and 48 are private. In Bishkek, there are 11 centers, in the Issyk-Kul region — 5, in Chui — 6, in Osh — 6, in Jalal-Abad — 8, in Talas — 3, in Batken — 6, and in Naryn region — 3.

These institutions employ 61 doctors and 106 medical staff.
