The decision to suspend him was made at an emergency meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on the morning of November 12.
According to Sviridenko, "the duties of the minister will now be performed by the Deputy Minister of Justice for European Integration Lyudmila Suhak," as reported on her Telegram channel.
The reason for this decision was the searches conducted on November 10 at Halushchenko's premises as part of a corruption investigation related to the company "Energoatom," which is responsible for the operation of all active nuclear power plants in Ukraine. Halushchenko held the position of Minister of Energy from April 2021 until July 2025. The case involves several individuals, including Timur Mindich, a close associate of President Volodymyr Zelensky and co-owner of the "Kvartal 95" studio. They are accused of organizing a corruption scheme whereby companies wishing to supply equipment or services to "Energoatom" were required to pay "kickbacks." Mindich left the country shortly before the searches were conducted.
