‘RoboCop’ has started service in China

In the eastern province of Zhejiang, in the city of Hangzhou, a police robot named Hansin-1 has begun its duties. According to Kazinform, citing the Hangzhou government portal, the device was launched on December 1 at an intersection in the Binjiang district.

Hansin-1 performs the functions of a traffic regulator, demonstrating standard gestures and providing voice notifications to drivers and pedestrians who violate traffic rules.

Zhang Wanzhe, a representative of the traffic police, noted that the robot's movements are based on the actual actions of inspectors. The artificial intelligence of the device is continuously improving through training in real traffic conditions.

Additionally, the robot is integrated with traffic light equipment, allowing it to adapt its operating mode based on traffic regulation signals. The computer vision module ensures the detection of violations among users of non-motorized vehicles, including cyclists.

Information about the duration of Hansin-1's autonomous operation has not yet been disclosed. However, it is known that similar police robots in other regions of China, such as Yunnan province, operate for six to eight hours after charging.

In the future, it is expected that new versions of the robot will be adapted for a wider range of scenarios and improve the quality of service to the public.
