Clashes have begun on the border between Thailand and Cambodia, as reported by RIA Novosti citing Khaosod. According to military data, confrontations occurred in several areas along the border, resulting in one soldier's death and four others injured.

On Monday morning, information was received about an attack on the Anupong military base from Phnom Penh. As a result of this incident, one Thai soldier was killed and two were injured. In response, Bangkok dispatched F-16 fighter jets for counterattacks.

Additional Information on the Conflict

According to Thai military claims, Cambodia used BM-21 rockets to attack civilian areas in Buriram province.

Evacuations were carried out in four border zones, during which about 70% of the population was relocated.

Currently, 35,623 people have registered in temporary shelters.

One fatality was also recorded during the evacuation.

Hun Sen, the head of the Cambodian Senate, stated that since yesterday, Bangkok has been shelling the territory of the country with various weapons.

Escalation of the Conflict

The conflict between the two countries began in May and escalated into intense fighting with heavy weaponry, artillery, and aviation from July 24 to 29.

The conflict only ended due to a ceasefire mediated by the United States, China, and Malaysia, which is chairing the Association of Southeast Asian Nations this year.

At the end of October, at the ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur, the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia signed a declaration aimed at resolving the conflict.
