A law has been passed in the State Duma of Russia that exempts deputies and officials from the requirement to submit annual income declarations. As reported by "Kommersant," this decision was approved during the second and third readings.

Now, civil servants and parliamentarians will be required to submit declarations only in specific cases: upon appointment to a position, transfer to another agency, or when it is necessary to explain large purchases that exceed the family's income over the past three years.

One of the initiators of this bill was Vasily Piskarev, chairman of the Duma's committee on security and anti-corruption from the "United Russia" party. He noted on his Telegram channel that the existing system of submitting declarations is outdated, and that modern digitalization of anti-corruption control already allows for effective monitoring of officials' financial status.

The draft law was submitted to the State Duma on December 10 by a group of deputies representing all factions.
