According to information provided by The Wall Street Journal, General Zhang Yuxia, who serves as the senior deputy chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, is under investigation. He is suspected of "serious violations of party discipline and state laws."

Additionally, the investigation is focusing on General Liu Zhenli, who heads the Joint Staff of the Chinese Armed Forces. He has also been accused of similar violations.

The publication emphasizes that Zhang Yuxia and Liu Zhenli were important figures in the process of army modernization and among the few Chinese generals with real combat experience. Their removal may indicate that Xi Jinping is seeking to intensify the fight against corruption and eliminate those officers whom he deems politically unreliable.

The article also notes that in recent years, there have been numerous displacements of high-ranking military officials and representatives of the defense industry in China, raising questions about Beijing's intentions to create an army capable of competing with Western states.
