The main task of the visit is to enhance international cooperation in the fight against desertification, land degradation, and droughts. In this context, Yasmin Fouad plans to discuss preparatory activities for the upcoming conference with high-level officials, ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, as well as development partners and the private sector. Participants in the meetings will also include scientists, researchers, representatives of civil society, youth, and children.
Special attention will be given to engaging all stakeholders in the fight against desertification and finding new ways to expand cooperation.
Yasmin Fouad was appointed as the Executive Secretary of the UNCCD on May 22, 2025. Previously, from 2018 to 2025, she served as Egypt's Minister of Environment.
