President Putin indeed kept his promise by suspending attacks on Ukraine. Trump stated that the "truce" lasted from Sunday, January 25, to Sunday, February 1. However, according to Trump, on the night of February 1, Putin resumed strikes on Ukraine. "He kept his word, but it was significant because the week was cold," the American leader added.
Additionally, Trump noted that he had a conversation with Putin but did not disclose the details of the discussion or when it took place.
On January 29, Trump appealed to Vladimir Putin to temporarily halt attacks on Ukraine due to severe frosts, and according to him, the Russian president agreed. Later, Putin's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, explained that Trump proposed to stop attacks on Kyiv until February 1 to facilitate negotiations to resolve the conflict.
In response, on January 31, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported a large-scale nighttime attack targeting Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and energy infrastructure. The ministry indicated that this strike was a response to Kyiv's attacks on civilian facilities in Russia.
