On a rock overhang more than 100 meters long, located on the eastern slope of the Umm-Irak plateau, images of animals, hunting scenes, as well as figures of people with weapons and various symbols, including inscriptions in Arabic and Nabataean, were found. These images date back to both prehistoric times (approximately 10,000 to 5,500 years ago) and later periods.
Experts claim that this discovery provides "new information about the civilizations that have successively existed in Sinai." According to archaeologists, the Umm-Irak plateau has been used for thousands of years as a lookout point and a place for gathering and resting by various peoples who inhabited these lands during different historical epochs.
