The visit of Serdar Berdymukhammedov is seen as an important event, and the EU ambassador emphasized at a briefing that the decision to hold high-level meetings has already been made. Negotiations are expected with the heads of the European Commission, the European Council, the European Parliament, and European commissioners.
“President Serdar Berdymukhammedov will be pleased to see in Brussels, where meetings with the heads of the Commission, Council, and Parliament, as well as with commissioners, are planned. We are just waiting for the date to be agreed upon,” noted Pexa.
She also added that the agenda for the visit will be extensive, covering topics such as political consultations, energy security, education, and cooperation with youth. Currently, the main issue remains choosing a suitable date considering the busy schedule of EU leadership.
Myakhri Bashimova, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, confirmed that discussions on the timing of the visit are ongoing. She noted that a package of documents will be prepared for signing by the time of the meeting.
“As soon as the dates are known, we will definitely inform you,” she added.
The briefing dedicated to cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union took place on February 17 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. During the event, the results of cooperation for 2025 were summarized, and key priorities for partnership in 2026 were outlined. It was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, diplomats accredited in the country, as well as staff from EU institutions and media.
