At the opening of the International Agricultural Salon in Paris, Macron noted that the decision of the American court confirms the importance of the principle of the rule of law. "The judge analyzed the Constitution and concluded that these tariffs do not comply with it. The existence of a system of checks and balances in democracy is a positive aspect," he stated, as reported by Euronews.

Furthermore, the President of France emphasized that his country plans to carefully study the consequences of the new 10 percent global tariff imposed by the U.S. and take retaliatory actions if necessary.

Macron also expressed interest in maintaining the export of French goods to the U.S., including agricultural products, luxury items, clothing, and aviation technology. He noted that for successful trade relations, they need to be mutually beneficial and stable.

An important point: on February 20, the U.S. Supreme Court declared the global tariffs imposed by Trump in April 2025 illegal, citing the president's overreach of authority.

Trump, in turn, reacted to the court's decision, calling it a "disgrace," and mentioned the existence of a backup plan, later signing an order to impose a new 15 percent tariff on all countries.
