As reported by MiddleAsianNews, the Ice Climbing and Freestyle World Cup is taking place in Longmont (LCC) for the second consecutive year.

These prestigious international competitions are organized under the auspices of the UIAA — the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation, which also conducts qualifying and youth tournaments around the world throughout the year.

About 100 climbers from countries including Azerbaijan, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Great Britain, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Liechtenstein, Mongolia, Netherlands, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Slovakia, Switzerland, and the USA participated in the competitions. Among the honored guests was UIAA President Peter Muir.

More than 100 athletes representing over 25 associations competed for the UIAA World Cup titles in the disciplines of "difficulty climbing" and "speed".

On February 21-22, 2026, in Longmont, Colorado, Mongolian athletes won silver and bronze medals at the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup.

In the final stage of the competition, held on a 12-meter wall in Longmont, athletes were given the opportunity to attempt the climb three times. The winner was the one who showed the best time. In this discipline, three men managed to complete the distance in less than seven seconds. The most outstanding result was 6.24 seconds, set by Linus Beck from Liechtenstein, which earned him first place. Among the Mongolian athletes, Mandakhbayar Chuluunbaatar finished third with a time of 6.28, while Khurlen Nyamdoo, who competed only in the first round, recorded a time of 6.31.

In the third round of the 2025-2026 season, Mongolia was represented by Mandakhbayar Chuluunbaatar, Khurlen Nyamdoo, Saikhanjargal Otgonbayar, and Selenge Nyamdoo.

In the men's speed category, Mandakhbayar took second place and received a silver medal, while Khurlen took third, earning him a bronze medal. Saikhanjargal, a master of sports, finished 13th, and Selenge placed 4th in the women's category.

Mongolian athletes have won one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal at the beginning of the 2025-2026 season. Ahead of them is the final series of the World Cup in Canada.
