
The message about the veteran's passing came from the district Council of War and Labor Veterans. According to available information, in recent months, Aziz Kodirov had been experiencing health issues and was being treated at home.
Kodirov was born in 1922 in Shahrinav. In 1939, while being a school teacher, he went to the front and was wounded several times. In 1943, he returned to his homeland and resumed his teaching career.
With the passing of Aziz Kodirov, only 12 veterans who participated in the Great Patriotic War remain in Tajikistan.
It is worth noting that about 300,000 people were sent from Tajikistan to the front lines of the Great Patriotic War, of which 92,000 died or went missing.
In 2005, there were 9,900 war veterans in the republic, in 2020 their number decreased to 168, in 2021 to 98, in 2022 to 59, in 2023 to 42, and in 2024 only 24 are expected.
