The U.S. President issued a sharp warning to Iran about possible military consequences
On March 10, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that if Iran has indeed laid mines in the Strait of Hormuz and does not remove them, the consequences will be "unprecedented." This was reported by the Anadolu Agency.
In his message on the social network Truth Social, Trump emphasized: "If the mines are not removed immediately, military action against Iran will be unprecedented." He also added that their removal would be a "giant step in the right direction."
However, the president noted that the U.S. has no confirmation of Iran laying mines in this strategically important waterway.
This warning followed a report from CNN stating that Iran had begun laying mines in the strait. Sources at the news agency revealed that currently only a few dozen mines have been laid, but Iran still has up to 90% of its fleet available, allowing it to lay hundreds more mines.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the key energy routes in the world, through which about 20 million barrels of oil pass daily. Following the start of U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the closure of the strait to transit, which led to a rise in oil prices and concerns about disruptions in energy supply.
The escalation of the conflict in the Middle East began after a joint attack by Israel and the U.S. on Iran on February 28. As a result of this conflict, more than 1,200 people have already died, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to reports, at least eight American servicemen have also fallen victim to the conflict.
