Majed Al-Ansari, the official representative of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on March 10, as reported by Euronews, that the Middle East is effectively in a state of regional war, which could lead to catastrophic consequences.

He also emphasized that Qatar has been warning the international community since the beginning of 2023 about the potential global repercussions of escalating conflict with Iran.

Al-Ansari pointed to the necessity of halting attacks from Iran before diplomatic negotiations can commence. He accused Tehran of striking civilian infrastructure both in the Persian Gulf and beyond.

According to him, the continuation of such attacks poses a risk of humanitarian catastrophe. He also added that any attack on Qatar would be met with an appropriate response.

The diplomat expressed hope that after the apologies from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to neighboring states, Iran would cease its attacks; however, this has not occurred. At the same time, Al-Ansari declined to comment on the selection of a new Supreme Leader of Iran, stating that Qatar is currently focused on protecting its territory from missile threats.

Previously, Iran has repeatedly emphasized that its interests are solely focused on countering the U.S. in the Persian Gulf regions and warned that any support from Washington would be regarded as a hostile act.

In response, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that its strategic partnership with the U.S. and other defense allies remains unchanged. Al-Ansari added that the Patriot systems, which operate in cooperation with American and other international partners, continue to be a key element for protection and deterrence.
