Trump told reporters: “We asked to postpone it for about a month.”

As explained by White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt, this decision is related to the president's need to oversee military actions in Iran. “The president is looking forward to his visit to China. We can change the dates. At the moment, his main task as commander-in-chief is to ensure the successful execution of the operation,” she noted.

On March 16, Trump urged China to assist the USA in ensuring security in the Strait of Hormuz, which is an important maritime corridor for oil supplies, accounting for 90% of China's imports. The president expressed hope to receive a response from Beijing before his scheduled visit and added that the meeting may be postponed.
