In the Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan, which borders the Novosibirsk region of Russia, authorities have begun vaccinating all agricultural animals. This was reported by the country's Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbaev at a briefing, as conveyed by TASS.
He noted that to ensure the safety of animals at the border, veterinary protection has been strengthened, and all livestock is subject to full vaccination. Bozumbaev also added that the government is actively procuring the necessary vaccines.
Earlier, on March 16, a state of emergency was declared in the Novosibirsk region due to the spread of pasteurellosis and rabies among cattle. As a result, regional authorities announced a quarantine in five districts and began seizing and destroying infected animals. Currently, no new cases of disease have been registered for 15 days.
Since the beginning of February, Kazakhstan has imposed temporary restrictions on the import and transit of livestock, as well as on feed that has not undergone thermal treatment and livestock products. Disinfection of vehicles is also being carried out in the country, along with cargo inspections and tracking control. Similar measures have been taken in Belarus.
