Due to an outbreak of pasteurellosis in Siberia, Kazakhstan restricted the import and export of livestock and meat products from regions such as Altai and the North Caucasus (including Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Chechnya, and Stavropol Krai) as well as from Kalmykia, Buryatia, Astrakhan, and Novosibirsk regions back in February.
Against the backdrop of the worsening situation with domestic animal diseases in Siberian regions of Russia, mass culling of livestock is being carried out. Due to the epidemic of pasteurellosis and rabies in Novosibirsk region and some areas of Chuvashia, a state of emergency has been declared. Sergey Dankvert, head of the Rosselkhoznadzor and head of the government commission sent to Novosibirsk region, stated that the situation with livestock diseases is under control, but noted that the long-known disease has begun to mutate and is taking on unusual forms.
