A new initiative is being launched in Astana, Almaty, and Balkhash to form a unified network of trauma centers that will implement a new model of assistance for injuries, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health.
The clinics will operate around the clock and offer a full range of services: from emergency care and resuscitation to complex surgical interventions and rehabilitation.
“This decision will allow assistance to be provided directly at the scene of the incident, eliminating delays associated with transportation to major cities,” the Ministry of Health noted, adding that numerous cases of injuries are recorded annually, and road traffic accidents are among the leading causes of mortality. Up to 40% of fatalities occur in the first hours after injury due to insufficient access to specialized medical care.
The ministry also emphasized that the new centers will serve as coordination points for the trauma service in the regions, allowing doctors to receive consultations from leading specialists at the National Scientific Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics named after Academician Batpenov in real time. Telemedicine technologies will be implemented, and training for medical personnel will be enhanced.
“Currently, the pilot project is being implemented in Astana, Almaty based at GKB 4, and Balkhash. In the future, the network will be expanded to other regions with high levels of trauma,” the ministry added.
