Today, April 2, the Meteorological and Environmental Department reports possible wet snowfalls, strong winds, and storms in several regions of the country, and predicts similar conditions for the southeast on April 3. Winds and storms are also expected in the Gobi, steppes, and other open areas.
Weather forecast for April 2, 2026, from 8:00 to 20:00:
Across the country, the weather will be cloudy. In the central and western aimags, as well as in the northwest of the eastern aimags, wet snow, snowfalls, and blizzards are predicted. No precipitation is expected in other regions.
The eastern wind will be southeast, while in other parts of the country it will be southwest. Later, the wind will shift to northwest, with gusts of 7-12 meters per second, and in the Altai Mountains, Gobi, and steppes, up to 18-20 meters per second, which will lead to dust storms.
Temperatures in the Darhad Depression, at the source of the Zavkhan River, in the Khürenbelchir area, in the Khangai Mountains, and in the valleys of the Ider and Tes Rivers will range from -1 to +4°C. In the southern part of the Gobi, temperatures are expected to be +15 to +20°C, in the Great Lakes basin and northern part of the Gobi – from +11 to +16°C, and in other areas – from +4 to +9°C.
In the vicinity of Ulaanbaatar, cloudy weather without precipitation is predicted. The wind will change from southwest to northwest at a speed of 5-10 meters per second, locally reaching 13-15 meters per second, which may cause dust storms. The air temperature will be +7-+9°C, relative humidity is expected to be at 33%, and atmospheric pressure will remain at 859 hPa.
