According to forecasts, on March 4, 2026, from 8:00 to 20:00, cloudy weather is expected in Mongolia. During the night, light snowfalls and blizzards are predicted in the Mongolo-Altai and Khangai mountain ranges, while during the day — in the Khangai and Khuvsgul mountains.
Today, precipitation in the form of snowfalls and blizzards is expected in most regions of the country. In the eastern part of Mongolia, precipitation will begin on March 3, while in the area of the Khalkh River — on March 4. The air temperature in the country will drop significantly. Strong winds are expected in the south, which may reduce visibility on the roads and create unfavorable conditions for travel.
Regarding precipitation, light snowfalls and blizzards are predicted during the night in the Mongolo-Altai and Khangai mountain ranges, while during the day — in the Khangai and Khuvsgul mountains.
As for wind activity: in the southern part of the region, the wind will blow from the west, while in other areas — from the northwest at a speed of 5-10 meters per second, and in the Altai mountains and the Arts-Bogd gorge — 13-15 meters per second.
The air temperature will continue to decrease in most regions. At night, in Uvs Lake and the Darkhad Basin, it may drop to -30... -35 °C, in the Tes River valley — from -36 to -41°C, and in the Khangai, Khuvsgul, and Zavkhan mountains, as well as at the source of the Zag-Baidrag River and in the Ider River valley — from -25 to -30°C. In the foothills of the Khangai mountains and in the northern and eastern parts of the Gobi, the temperature will be -14 to -19°C, while in other areas — -20 to -25°C.
In the vicinity of Ulaanbaatar, cloudy weather without precipitation is expected. The wind will be northwest at a speed of 4-9 meters per second. At night, the temperature in the Yaarmag-Songino area will be -28 to -30°C, in other places — -22 to -24°C, and during the day — -10 to -12°C. In Baganuur, it will also be cloudy, without precipitation, with a northwest wind at a speed of 5-10 meters per second. At night, the temperature will be -28 to -30°C, and during the day — -14 to -16°C.
In the eastern part of the country, strong frosts are expected until March 5. In particular, on March 5, light snowfall is possible in the Uvs Lake basin and the Altai mountains, on March 6 — in the Altai and Khangai mountains, and on March 7 — in the Khuvsgul mountains and the Selenga River basin. It is expected that the cold snap will weaken in the western part of the country on March 5, and in most regions on March 6.
