Today, heavy snowfall and blizzards are predicted in most regions of the country. In the eastern part of the country, precipitation is expected on March 3, and in the area of the Khalkh River — on March 4. Additionally, it will become noticeably colder in most provinces. Strong winds are expected in the southern region, which may reduce visibility on the roads and create dangerous driving conditions.
Regarding precipitation: cloudy weather is predicted in the eastern regions, while variable cloudiness is expected in the west. Snow and blizzards may affect the southern and eastern parts of the central aimags, as well as some areas of the Gobi and eastern aimags.
As for the wind: a northwesterly wind will blow in the western region, while in the eastern part, a southwesterly wind will change to northwesterly at a speed of 7-12 m/s. In the southern Gobi aimags, wind speeds may reach 18-20 m/s, and in some cases, up to 24 m/s, which will lead to the formation of dust storms.
Air temperatures will decrease in most regions. At Lake Uvs and in the Darkhad Valley, temperatures may drop to -25...-30°C, in the Tes River Valley — to -18...-23°C, in the Khangai, Khövsgöl, and Zavkhan mountains, as well as at the source of the Zag-Baidrag River and in the Idre River Valley — from -18 to -23°C. In the southeastern part of the Gobi, temperatures are expected to range from +1 to -6°C, in the southwestern part — from +1 to -4°C, in the Dargyan Steppe — from -6 to -11°C, and in the northern part of the Gobi and other areas — from -10 to -15°C.
In Ulaanbaatar, cloudy weather will also prevail. Snowfall and blizzards are expected. The wind will change direction from southwesterly to northwesterly at a speed of 4-9 m/s, and in some places, up to 12-14 m/s. The temperature in the city will be around -10...-12°C.
