The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that a file containing flight instructions for a Ukrainian drone, which was shot down on December 29 and was heading towards Vladimir Putin's residence in the Novgorod region, has been retrieved.

“The routing data confirmed that the target of the Ukrainian drones shot down on December 29, 2025, was one of the facilities of the Russian president's residence in the Novgorod region,” the official statement from the ministry said.

It was also emphasized that the collected materials were handed over to the American side.

Recently, the WSJ published an article stating that Ukraine did not attempt to attack the president of Russia or his residence. According to the CIA, Ukrainian forces aimed to hit a military target located in the same area as Putin's residence, but not in close proximity to it.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov previously stated that Kyiv carried out a drone attack on the state residence of the president of Russia in the Novgorod region on the night of December 29.
