The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has confirmed the information about the death of one of its citizens in Malta. In response, the Kyrgyz embassy in Italy promptly began actions to organize the repatriation of the body to the homeland.
Diplomats established cooperation with local authorities and actively involved compatriots who were in Malta to expedite the necessary procedures. The embassy is handling the preparation of all necessary documents and coordinating the work of various services, maintaining constant contact with the relatives of the deceased.
According to a report from the publication timesofmalta, a 48-year-old woman from Kyrgyzstan died after her health deteriorated while at sea in St. George's Bay. A 23-year-old compatriot was with her and was hospitalized.
The incident, according to the police, occurred around 12:40. Several passersby assisted the Kyrgyz women by pulling them from the water and providing first aid. Soon, medical personnel and Civil Protection staff arrived at the scene and transported the victims to a medical facility.
Unfortunately, the 48-year-old woman passed away, while the condition of the second victim is stable.
