Clash with the police. Protests against the Olympics took place in Italy
Protests took place in Italy, during which demonstrators opposing the Olympics clashed with police forces. This was reported by AFP.

Several thousand participants gathered in Milan to protest against the negative environmental, economic, and social consequences of the Winter Olympic Games. At one point, about a hundred people separated from the main group and began to clash with the police.

The protesters used stones, smoke bombs, and also launched flares and fireworks towards the security forces. In response, law enforcement used batons, water cannons, and tear gas, resulting in six people being detained.

The XXV Winter Olympic Games will take place from February 6 to 22, 2026, and the Winter Paralympic Games will be held from March 6 to 15. A total of 2,871 athletes from 93 countries will participate in the events, competing for 116 sets of medals in 16 disciplines.
