Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, stated that the US will "bitterly regret" the sinking of the Iranian frigate "Dena" (IRIS Dena), which was off the coast of Sri Lanka. This event was highlighted by the media outlet "Meduza".

According to Araghchi, "The US committed a crime at sea, being 2,000 miles away from Iranian shores. The frigate 'Dena', which was visiting the Indian Navy and carrying nearly 130 sailors, was attacked in international waters without prior warning. Remember my words: the US will bitterly regret the precedent they have created," the minister added.

It is worth noting that on March 4, an American submarine attacked the Iranian frigate "Dena" in international waters of the Indian Ocean, near the southern coast of Sri Lanka. Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth confirmed that "the American submarine sank the Iranian warship, which believed it was safe in international waters." According to Sri Lankan authorities, as a result of this attack, 87 people died, 32 were rescued, while 60 are still reported missing.
