According to one of the tourists, Vladimir Lushchenko, the water level in the river has significantly decreased in the autumn. The summer was particularly hot and dry, and in some places, the riverbed became visible. “We were looking for beautiful stones when we stumbled upon a knife lying between two stones. It may have been dropped by someone into the river and carried away by the water, as at other times of the year, the Kara-Balta is full and turbulent,” he said.
Local historian and expert Maxim Podgorny expressed his opinion on the origin of the knife: “Based on its shape, it can be assumed that it was made in a forge, as there are signs of forging on the blade. The knife, judging by its sharpening and design, was intended for skinning and butchering. It looks very convenient and functional. Given its condition, it is likely that the tool was made in the mid or late 20th century by local craftsmen,” Podgorny noted.
