Adilet Japarkulov brings Kyrgyzstan its first gold at the Deaflympics

At the XXV Summer Deaflympics held in Tokyo (Japan), Adilet Japarkulov became the first Kyrgyzstani to win a gold medal in freestyle wrestling in the 74 kg category.

The athlete began his path to victory on November 23, when in the 1/8 finals he defeated Kazakh wrestler Turgynbay Gassyr with a score of 3:1. In the quarterfinals, he managed to beat Belarusian Alexey Kolesnik with a score of 7:2, and in the semifinals, he overcame Ukrainian Denis Trekhubenko with a score of 5:2.

The final match, which took place on November 24, was the culmination of his performance: Japarkulov confidently won against Iranian Abolfazl Zohrevand with a final score of 3:0, thereby securing a historic victory for Kyrgyzstan. This medal became the first for the country not only in freestyle wrestling but also in the history of the Deaflympics as a whole.
