Bishkek's baths and saunas are being checked for their impact on smog

Environmental standards must be observed

According to information from the city hall, inspections of baths and saunas are being conducted in the capital to assess their impact on smog levels. The procedure is carried out by the municipal inspection.

During the raids, inspectors examine the facilities to determine what types of fuel are used for heating.

From December 2 to 3, 83 establishments were inspected. Of these, 49 facilities are heated with solid fuel (coal and firewood), 8 have switched to gas and electricity, while the others have ceased operations.

One of the establishments on Orozov Street used fine coal, which contradicts the current regulations. A corresponding order was issued to the owner.

Inspectors also reminded about the necessity of adhering to environmental standards, including the prohibition of using waste oils, garbage, and other toxic materials for heating; burning leaves, grass, and household waste; and called for a transition to more environmentally friendly energy sources, such as gas heating.

According to the landscaping rules, burning products from the sewing industry, automotive oils, paints and varnishes, plastic products, rubber, and other toxic materials is prohibited in Bishkek.
