In the Naryn region, in the Kochkor district, a solemn opening of a monument to the outstanding Kyrgyz hero of the 19th century, Abayilda uulu Sherboto, took place.

The monument is installed in front of the "Cholpon" cinema named after Gennady Bazarov, on the alley where sculptures dedicated to significant historical figures are presented. Sherboto Abayilda uulu is one of these personalities.

Representatives of the district administration and descendants of Sherboto attended the opening ceremony. The speakers emphasized the importance of including his feats and heroism in school history textbooks.

According to information from his descendants, Sherboto was likely born in 1795 and passed away in the 1880s. This information is indicated on the plaque installed at his mausoleum. However, historian Kyas Moldokasymov noted that an archive record from Almaty preserved a note from 1886, where Sherboto is recorded as alive at the age of 88 in the Temir-Bolot volost of the Pishpek district. This suggests that he may have been born in 1798 and died after 1888.

In the 18th century, the bey of the northern Kyrgyz, Cherikchi Temir uulu, fleeing from Kalmyk raids, resettled with his people to the Fergana Valley and governed the city of Andijan from 1730 to 1740. Later, he returned to his homeland. His son Abayilda also distinguished himself as a batyr, participating in the struggle against the Kalmyks.
Abayilda Cherikchi uulu from his first wife Botoköz had nine sons, among whom were Sherboto, Narboto, and Törögeldi. From his second wife, Sherimbek and Ybyke were born, and from the third — Kydyk. Six of Abayilda's twelve sons became famous batyrs and entered history as "the six lions of Abayilda."

Sherboto, along with his brothers, defended Kyrgyz lands and participated in various battles. It is known that Törögeldi Abayilda uulu was a military commander of Khan Ormon, and Sherboto, as the elder brother, likely trained him in military affairs.

Among the folk legends, many stories about Sherboto's feats have been preserved. One of them concerns a campaign for a herd of horses into Kazakh lands, where his brother Narboto was seriously wounded. Despite the risks, Sherboto carried him off the battlefield. He also participated in the battles of 1846 against the troops of Kazakh Sultan Kenesary, demonstrating incredible bravery, as mentioned in Belek Soltonoev's book "Kyzyl Kyrgyz Taryhy."

Sherboto was a respected and wealthy man, had 11 children, and lived a long life in honor. His grave is located in the area of the village of Dön-Alysh, where his mausoleum is also situated. In his honor, memorial feasts with large horse races were held, attracting riders from all over Kyrgyzstan.

Over time, the mausoleum fell into disrepair, and in 2022, descendants of Sherboto erected a memorial sign and fenced the area. Currently, the hero's descendants live in the village of Kyzyl-Döbö.
