The work on an important infrastructure project — the eastern bypass road — has begun in Bishkek. The city's mayor, Aibek Junushaliev, announced this through the press service of the mayor's office.
The project includes the creation of five major transport interchanges and the construction of an elevated bridge in the Kant area.
The road will be 16 kilometers long and will run through the eastern part of the capital, bypassing dense construction.

In addition, the project includes the modernization and construction of adjacent highways, including:
- Leo Tolstoy Street — from Auezov Street to the eastern bypass (5.7 kilometers);
- Akhunbaev Street — from Auezov Street to the eastern bypass (3 kilometers);
- Sukhbaatar Street — from Auezov Street to the eastern bypass (2 kilometers);
- Zhukejeva-Pudovkina Street — from Tokombaev Street to Imanaliev Street (2.2 kilometers);
- Imanaliev Street — from Zhukejeva-Pudovkina Street to April 7 Street (3 kilometers).
Thus, the total length of all new and reconstructed roads, including the eastern bypass, will be 32 kilometers.
The mayor reviewed the progress of work on Zhukejeva-Pudovkina Street, where approximately 100 units of specialized equipment are involved.
The main goal of the project is to redirect transit traffic outside the city, which should help reduce congestion on the central streets and improve transport accessibility for both residents of Bishkek and nearby areas of the Chui region.

The eastern bypass road is a strategically important project that will help address many traffic congestion issues in the future and strengthen the capital's status as a key transport hub in the region.
