The Deputy Prime Minister and the Chief of the State National Security Committee, Kamchybek Tashiev, announced the start of construction of a bypass road connecting Bishkek and Kemin during a meeting with local residents.

The total cost of this project is 65 million dollars. "Recently, residents have been increasingly complaining about traffic jams in the city, especially when leaving Kant and entering Bishkek. Currently, we are working on the construction of the Kemin—Bishkek bypass road. In Kemin, there will be a turnoff to a toll road that will provide access to Kok-Jar [Bishkek]. Although this will be a toll road, it will save residents 2-3 hours of travel time," Tashiev explained.

President Sadyr Japarov in his statement on December 6, 2024 noted that the project for the construction of the bypass road in the Uzgen district became the first under the public-private partnership framework in road construction.

According to Japarov, anyone interested can participate in the construction of other alternative toll roads under the public-private partnership model.

Key projects include: the alternative road Suusamyr—Aral (115 km), the road Almaty—Kemin—Issyk-Kul (150 km), and the bypass road Bishkek—Kemin (105 km), as well as the project Almaty – Uzunagash – Karakastek – Suranshy-Baatyr – Kastek – Karasai-Baatyr with a total length of 88.4 km, which will lead to the border of Kyrgyzstan in the village of Kara-Bulak in the Kemin district.
