The road to the GKNB building in the city of Osh has been paved, but the remaining section of 1 km towards the village of Birleshken has still not been repaired.

Local residents express concern that due to the unsatisfactory condition of the road, not only schoolchildren suffer, but also citizens without cars.

According to Ermek Karabaev, a resident of the area, B. Osmonov Street has only been paved up to the GKNB building, while the 1 km section further on remains unpaved.

“A few days ago, a schoolboy was walking down this street when a car passed by and splashed him with mud. The child had to go back home. We raised this issue last year and appealed to the city road management asking them to at least level the road and fill it with gravel. At that time, the machinery was nearby the GKNB. We also joined the city in requesting road repairs, but nothing was done. The road was opened by the rural administration of Tölöykön in 2017 and has not undergone official repairs since then. Every year, residents collect funds, buy gravel, and hire machinery to level the road. Last year we were promised repairs, but nothing has changed. Now it is very difficult for the children: the road is muddy, there is no lighting. They walk to school and back in the dark. There are also many dogs in this area. Public transport does not go there. Residents and schoolchildren who live a kilometer from the road are forced to walk through the mud to school and work. We appealed to the city hall asking for a shuttle service, but we have not received a response,” said E. Karabaev.

Jengishbek Shonoев, head of the Osh city road management, reported that work has already begun to bring gravel to this road.

“Today we started filling this section with gravel. A crew has been sent to the site, and 10 dump trucks of gravel have been delivered. We plan to level everything with a grader. Paving of the road is scheduled for 2026, and it has been included in the plan. If everything goes according to plan, we will completely repair the road next year and connect it to the road in the village of Birleshken,” he noted.
