The dangerous intersection in the administrative center of the Jumgal district of the Naryn region continues to worry schoolchildren and their parents.

In the village of Chayek, schoolchildren cannot safely cross the road leading to two schools and one kindergarten. The reason is the parked and constantly passing cars, which force children to wait a long time for an opportunity to cross the roadway.

According to local resident Begai Egeshova, she is already tired of raising this issue. As the villager says, there is no traffic light in the central part of the village, and the pedestrian crossing ("zebra") is completely absent. "I've been talking about this place for 3-4 years. Our children and grandchildren cannot cross the road properly on their way to school; there have been cases where they were hit by cars. Recently, a car hit an elderly woman — she is now in the hospital in the regional center. Earlier, a girl was injured at this spot, and just recently another schoolboy narrowly escaped injury. I don't know what they are waiting for.

If they closed off the section of the road, installed traffic signs, and the traffic police did not allow parking along the curbs, it would be better. A separate sidewalk for schoolchildren could be made, and barriers could be installed. We are afraid to let our children go to school every day. The local authorities seem to be unresponsive — so many incidents, and no measures are being taken," Egeshova said.

Regarding this issue, the district state administration reported that work will be carried out in conjunction with the Ayil Okmotu of the Chayek rural district, road services, the municipal enterprise, and the traffic police.
