In the new issue of the "Жеңеке" column, we present to you 25-year-old Gulgaky Toktobaeva, who lives in the village of Rahmanjan, located in the Nooken district of the Jalal-Abad region.

Gulgaky shared that her husband is a close friend of her older brother.

“My name is Meder Aliyev, I am 29 years old. Our acquaintance began through my brother, as they were friends. I perceived Meder as an older brother. One day he said that he liked me and suggested that we get to know each other better with the aim of starting a family. I thought it was a joke and replied jokingly, ‘First, get permission from my brother, and then we can talk about the wedding.’ However, Meder really talked to my brother, and soon we got married. I liked his persistence. We are from neighboring villages,” Gulgaky said.

She also noted that communication with her future husband was limited to phone calls, and they only met twice before the wedding, with the third meeting taking place at the celebration.

“What I like about Meder is his determination and patience. We are happy together and are raising our daughter. Before getting married, I had never milked cows, but my husband has cows on his farm. He helped me learn how to do it, and his parents accepted me as their own daughter,” she added.

Gulgaky recalled a funny incident that happened at the beginning of their life together:

“I was preparing breakfast for the family. We were sitting down for tea when suddenly my husband announced, ‘Today we will eat manti, your daughter-in-law cooks deliciously.’ In fact, I had never rolled out dough or worked with it. Everyone went about their business, and I was left alone at home. I kneaded the dough and started rolling it out, but it didn’t turn out well: the middle was thin, and the edges were thick. Just then, my mother-in-law was supposed to return. I quickly started making manti, and when everyone sat down at the table, the dough turned out to be very thick, and the manti fell apart. I felt embarrassed and apologized for the failure. However, my father-in-law and mother-in-law praised me and said that everything was delicious. After that, my mother-in-law taught me how to make manti according to her recipe, and every time we make them, we remember this incident with a smile,” concluded Toktobaeva.
