Adylbek Kasymaliev, the chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, familiarized himself with the current state of the works.
According to Talant Kerimkulov, the head of the construction site, the total area of the new facility will be 155 thousand square meters. Inside the market, there will be about 10 thousand trading places and an underground parking lot that can accommodate up to 500 cars.
Twenty thousand square meters have been allocated for storage facilities, while another 50 thousand will be used for trading areas. In addition, a separate parking lot for 6 thousand cars will be organized in the adjacent area.
Kerimkulov reported that 7 blocks are being constructed at the construction site: five of them will be designated for main trading, the 6th block is planned for the sale of dried fruits, and the 7th block will be allocated for a green market.
All five main trading blocks will be two stories high, not counting the underground parking.
He also emphasized that the new structure will be enclosed, ensuring comfortable conditions inside. It will be warm in the winter, and air conditioners will be installed in the summer. The new Osh market will resemble modern shopping centers in its format.
Trading places in each block will be categorized by types of goods to avoid mixing different types of products, as happens in the existing Osh market.
Currently, as reported by the site manager, 90% of the monolithic works have been completed. Work is currently underway to divide the boutiques and trading points, as well as to construct passages between the blocks. All blocks will be glazed.
Kerimkulov also added that the project for the new market was handled by an Azerbaijani company in cooperation with local authorities. Quality control of the works was conducted by the state technical supervision at each stage of construction, which issued permits to proceed to the next stages.
He separately discussed the solution to the groundwater problem. This was resolved by installing a drainage system, which was mounted around the perimeter of the market. The facility includes an external and internal drainage ring.
“When we first started the work, the groundwater level was rising at a depth of two meters. After the installation of the drainage system and the construction of the underground parking at a depth of four meters, the water issue was resolved. The soil was also replaced on the site, and layer-by-layer compaction was carried out,” explained Kerimkulov.
Currently, about 500 workers are employed at the construction site, and 20-30 units of construction equipment are involved. Although the builders work late into the night, this does not happen around the clock. In the coming days, with the improvement of the weather, it is planned to begin landscaping the market area.
