On January 16, an event dedicated to the date of the lifting of the blockade of Leningrad took place at the Memorial Complex of the Leningrad Blockade, located in the Dair Aasanov Recreation Park.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, the event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Colonel Almazbek Kulmurzaev, as well as relatives of those who perished during the Great Patriotic War.

During the event, relatives were presented with archival documents related to soldiers who went missing during the war.

These documents were the result of digitization carried out by the staff of the military lyceum at the request of the Ministry of Defense, based on data obtained from the Central Archive of Russia.

The lifting of the blockade of Leningrad occurred on January 18, 1943, but January 27, 1944, became a significant day for the final liberation of the city. During the blockade, over 16,000 people were evacuated from Leningrad to Kyrgyzstan, including about 3,500 children.

One of those evacuated was Kyrgyzstani Toktogon Altybasarova, who took on the care of 150 children from besieged Leningrad.
