Amid the United States' claims on an Arctic island, several countries are sending their military personnel to Greenland. This is reported by DW.

According to information from the German Ministry of Defense, an intelligence mission will take place from January 15 to 17 at the invitation of Denmark. "The mission is aimed at exploring military participation opportunities to support Denmark in the region's security, particularly in the area of maritime surveillance," the ministry clarified.

As part of this mission, 13 military personnel from Germany will be sent to Greenland, having flown to the capital Nuuk aboard an Airbus A400M transport aircraft on January 15. Norway will send two soldiers, as reported by the country's Defense Minister Tore Sandvik. Sweden also plans to send several officers, as stated by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

Additionally, representatives from France are heading to Greenland. As Politico reports, troops from the Netherlands and Canada are also participating in the exercises.

It is worth noting that after the U.S. conducted a special operation to capture the President of Venezuela and his wife, Donald Trump stated that the U.S. could take action against other countries, including Greenland. Denmark, which administers Greenland, expressed dissatisfaction with such statements. This sentiment was supported by many countries, including China. Despite this, Trump did not change his plans—initially, reports emerged that he had instructed special operations commanders to prepare a plan for a possible invasion of Greenland. Then, Republican Randy Fine introduced a bill in the U.S. Congress for the annexation of Greenland to the United States and granting it state status.
