Prime Minister Nielsen noted: “If we have to choose between Denmark and the USA, we will choose Denmark.” He also emphasized that Greenland is not interested in becoming part of the United States and does not want to be governed by Americans.
It is worth noting that U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed a desire to acquire Greenland, basing this on national security considerations.
The White House not only considered the possibility of purchasing the island but also hinted at the possibility of using force to achieve its goals.
Greenland is currently an autonomous territory of Denmark.
