
In the updated military power ranking compiled by the military analytical portal Global Firepower, Kyrgyzstan ranked 109th. The ranking covers 145 countries and takes into account more than 60 criteria, such as army size, military budget, availability of equipment, and level of logistical support. Link to the source.
Compared to the previous year, when the republic was in 105th place, Kyrgyzstan has lost four positions.
According to the Global Firepower index 2026, Kyrgyzstan's defense budget is $654 million. The army consists of 78,000 servicemen, of which 23,000 are active, and 55,000 are part of paramilitary formations.
The country's armed forces have 7 helicopters (including 2 combat helicopters), 215 tanks, 30 self-propelled artillery systems, 174 towed artillery units, and 21 multiple launch rocket systems, among others.
In Central Asia, Uzbekistan holds the highest position in the ranking at 53rd place. Kazakhstan is in 58th place, Turkmenistan is 78th, and Tajikistan is 100th.
The leaders of the ranking are the USA, with Russia in second place, and China recognized as having the third strongest army. At the bottom of the list are the Central African Republic, Belize, and Bhutan.
