During the meeting, the composition of the interdepartmental commission was also formed, which will continue the work on selecting a new anthem. The commission includes such deputies as Nurchamal Torobekova, Baktyyar Kalpaev, Venera Salyamova, Kamila Talieva, and Ulan Zhaanbaev.
Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu emphasized that the new anthem must be chosen by June 1 of this year.
“We invite both individual citizens and groups to participate in the competition. If necessary, we can extend the deadline until September. We need an anthem that will be accessible for every citizen to perform,” noted the speaker.
At the meeting of the committee on constitutional legislation, local self-government, and regulations, which took place on January 27, the deputies reviewed three anthem projects previously proposed by the commission and rejected them.
The idea of the necessity to change the anthem in 2024 was put forward by the speaker of parliament Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu and supported by the president. As a result, an interdepartmental commission was created to select a new anthem, with the emphasis that the final choice must be made by April 2025.
