On Alymbek-Datka Street [formerly Lenin] in the city of Osh, work is underway to relocate the "Andijan" cemetery by 11 meters. This was reported by the head of the Osh City Bureau for Citizen Services, Barchynbek Tanyrov.

According to him, as part of the reclamation work, a special treatment is applied before the excavation of each grave.

“Yesterday, the relocation work began. During the reclamation, 50 remains were extracted. Today, the work continues. The extracted remains are being moved to the other side of the same cemetery. All sanitary requirements are being followed to avoid any negative consequences,” said Barchynbek Tanyrov.

Currently, the relocation is being carried out in an established manner.

It was previously reported that last year, Alymbek-Datka Street was asphalted from the residence to the central square, and this year the asphalt will be laid completely—from the central square to A. Navoi Street.

According to official data, there are 49 cemeteries in Osh, of which 14 are already closed, and 35 are in operation.

Turmush previously wrote that there are plans for the reclamation of unused cemeteries in the city of Osh, followed by the construction of multi-story residential buildings on their sites.

According to the municipality, the reclaimed "Khokhlovo" cemetery had not been used for 40 years. Its market value is estimated at 20 million dollars.

Currently, there are 50 cemeteries in the city of Osh. Of these, 15 are closed, and 5 have already been reclaimed. Appropriate instructions have been given for the targeted use of the reclaimed areas. The possibility of constructing multi-story buildings on the sites of old cemeteries is being considered.

Previously, a new cemetery covering 13 hectares and 60 acres was opened on the outskirts of the city. This facilitates the relocation and closure of old cemeteries within the city limits.
