On Alisher Navoi Street in Osh, court proceedings continue regarding a property believed to be owned by the former vice-mayor of the city, as reported by the press service of the mayor's office. At the same time, as indicated by the municipality, the "Kristall" hotel was completely demolished during the relocation of the central market.

The press secretary of the Osh city hall, Zhyldyz Bolotbekov, noted that legal proceedings in this case are ongoing, but did not specify which court is handling the matter. According to him, the demolition of the hotel was carried out by the owner at their own expense, and compensation for the property was paid. Subsequently, in cooperation with the municipal property management, demolition work was conducted.

The "Kristall" hotel became one of the last properties demolished as part of the reconstruction of the "Beksultan" market area, which was relocated to a new site. In mid-October 2025, the mayor's office announced the start of the hotel's demolition, as well as that of multi-story buildings on Alisher Navoi Street, 33 and 19. Demolition work began using heavy machinery, after which residents and hotel staff started moving their belongings outside.

Despite previous warnings, the property owners continued their activities. The demolition is being carried out based on a conclusion that these properties are located within a 50-meter water protection zone of the river, where any construction is prohibited.

At the XIII session of the Osh city council on September 10, 2025, Mayor Zhenishbek Toktorbaev confirmed that the "Kristall" hotel would be demolished. It was located at: Alisher Navoi Street, 50a, where the "Beksultan" and "Shokolad" markets were previously situated. These markets were relocated to Bekmamata Osmonov Street, and the old premises were demolished.

Earlier, the mayor's office noted that the hotel continued to operate despite being built in a water protection zone. The owner of the building at 19 Navoi Street was considered to be Alimzhan Baigazakov, the former vice-mayor of the city and current auditor of the Accounts Chamber of Kyrgyzstan.

During morning raids, Mayor Toktorbaev ordered the demolition of structures associated with the aforementioned markets. The issue of demolishing illegal buildings has been raised repeatedly, and according to official data, there were over 2000 illegal trading points in the area.

Alimzhan Baigazakov was appointed the first vice-mayor of Osh on January 25, 2012, and then became acting mayor on December 5, 2013. After that, from April 2014 to May 2018, he engaged in private entrepreneurship and became a deputy of the Osh city council. On May 7, 2018, his candidacy was approved by the budget and finance committee of the Jogorku Kenesh for the position of auditor of the Accounts Chamber, which was confirmed by parliament on May 10, 2018. He was re-elected to this position on May 17, 2023.
